Defending champion Shabab Al Ahli Dubai (D1) added to their roster experienced 34-year old Lebanese international swingman Sam Young (198-100kg-85, college: Pittsburgh). He is the second import player in the roster as USA Chris Johnson signed here earlier.
Young played last summer at Trilogy (Big3) in the U.S. The last season he played at Al Naser. Young helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final.
In 2009 he was drafted by Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) in second round (36th overall). Young attended University of Pittsburgh and it will be his eleventh (!!!) season in pro basketball.
He also played at the Arab Club Championships Winner two years ago.
Young is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit five different continents, while he played in ten different countries. Young tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Australia (Kings), China (Guizhou), Italy (JuveCaserta), Mexico (Halcones UV Xalapa), Puerto Rico (Vaqueros), Turkey (Usak Sportlif), NBA (Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs and Indiana Pacers), Lebanon (Homentmen), Dominican Republic (Caneros Del Este and San Sebastian) and The Basketball Tournament (ATL All-Stars).
On Young: Sam Young is a talented, gritty scorer and rebounder who displays outstanding competitiveness. Young has a good understanding of the game and fits perfectly into any team system. Young has showed his athleticism with spectacular dunks, thundering rebounds and surprising blocks. A power forward, Young can score inside or outside, is super athletic, plays good defense and gets up on the glass.
